Women's Health
How reference ranges and health measurements differ for women.
A number of standard health measurements are interpreted differently for women, and several widely used equations carry sex-specific constants — the eGFR equation, the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and many laboratory reference ranges among them. Pregnancy changes the interpretation of blood pressure, glucose and kidney function substantially, and several standard tools are simply not validated during it. This hub explains where sex-based differences in measurement genuinely exist, where they are a legacy of study populations, and which numbers need a different frame entirely during pregnancy.
